Hi.....I have an Ipod touch ist gen......when it is switched on it asks you to slide to unlock.....when I slide my finger along the bottom bar nothing happens.....there is a closed padlock at the top of the screen and after a few seconds the screen switches off......I have tried the various resets and also upgraded the software....from i tunes.....would you think that the digitiser screen is faulty or are there other checks I can make..........heres hoping

I'm afraid your symptoms pretty clearly point towards a broken digitizers. The digitizer may be disconnected or the connector be corroded if it was dropped or exposed to water. Otherwise it is almost certain to be the digitizer itself that is broken.

Hi....Many thanks for confirming my suspicions.....Have seen these for sale on ebay.....but its a bit daunting to dismantle the unit....but have worked on phones so should not be too bad.....
