Ipod Touch 2 Gen. Back Housing Replacement

Postby klowe92@aol.com » Sat Jul 31, 2010 9:24 pm

I am already planning on replacing the digitizer on my ipod and was wondering how difficult it would be to go ahead and switch back housing out also.

You may as well go ahead with the back change as the hardest part of doing any repair is getting the shell opened. From there, there are only a dozen or more very small cross head screw to undo to get everything away from the old back. Be careful how you handle the LCD, which needs to be lifted to get to some of the screws,it is wafer thin and very fragile! The cables are attached to the back by sticky tape. Peel them gently so as not to damage them. Pay special attention the the wi-fi cable.
There is an excellent tear down tutorial on this site. Just read then re-read the instructions and take your time. Good luck.
