Dead Screen on Droid

Postby John » Wed Nov 17, 2010 4:10 pm

Last night while waiting for the elevator I dropped my Droid 1 (the original droid that came out Nov 09 via Verizon in Nebraska). The screen would not work after that, though the phone was alive, taking calls and having hepatic responses. This happened to me back in June (same problem only a more dramatic fall) so this is my second Droid in a year, both malfunctioning due to a fall.

Can it be fixed at home by a "nube?" I have some mechanical skill... though not by any means a tech person. What parts would I need? How much do you think it would cost?

If not a viable option, can anyone recommend a reliable repair shop?

Many thanks,
John on the prairie.

not exactly nube compatible, but it's possible to replace the screen:
