Zune freezes and says contact support. when i plug it in it just charges when it boots up after 3 sec it says contact support. restore doesn't work.

There are really two things that can cause this: broken hard drive or an issue with the logic board or hard drive cable. Listen to the Zune when it starts up. Does the HDD sound like it spins evenly? Then it's your logic board or hdd cable. Is there no hard drive sound at all or is there a repetitive read access sound coming from the hard drive? Then it's your hard drive.
