Macbook freezes up randomly

Postby Lisaloe » Sat Oct 17, 2009 10:42 am

My Macbook freezes up randomly with the wheel spinning and completely unresponsive otherwise. All I can do is push the button to shut down. What's causing this?

Have you recently installed something new on it? This could be anything from a RAM or a new program? Is your hard drive almost full to capacity?

When the little wheel is spinning and the Laptop is slow, listen to the section next to the scroll pad which is where the hard drive is located.
Do you hear the head of the hard drive move? Is there a repetitive ticking or clicking sound or a soft rythmical read access sound? Any reptetive sound here means that you have bad sectors on the hard drive and a hard drive replacement and OS reinstall will solve your problem.
