Macbook Pro A1150 Tools   Before you begin

  • Read this website's Legal Guidelines and make sure you understand the risks of this repair. Place your Macbook Pro A1150 on a clean flat and soft surface, such as a rubber mat or a piece of soft cloth and get the required opening tools

    Turn your Macbook Pro A1150 on its back.

     

    Step 2

    Remove the battery door and the battery.

      

    Step 3

    Remove the screws under the battery compartment.

      

    Step 4

    Remove the screws on top of the battery compartment.

      

    Step 5

    Turn the Macbook Pro A1150 around and pry off the microphone cover at the top using a plastic opening tool. Remove any screws you find underneath.

      

    Step 6

    Turn the Macbook Pro A1150 around again and remove the antenna cover using the spudger as shown in the image.

      

    Step 10

    Remove the torx screws you find under the antenna cover.

      

    Step 13

    Now the plastic frame should come loose from the Macbook Pro A1150 midboard.

      

    Step 12

    This is what it looks like when the frame is removed.

      

    Step 15

    Release the antenna cable from the Macbook Pro A1150 logic board.

      

    Step 16

    Release the Macbook Pro A1150 keyboard connector.

      

    Step 17

    Now you can lift the logic board as shown in the image.

      

    Step 18

    The keyboard becomes fully exposed.

      

    Step 19

    Release the Macbook Pro A1150 screen connector.

      

    Step 20

    Now the Macbook Pro A1150 logic board is fully disconnected.

  • Step 1

     

    Remove the battery.

    Step 2

    Remove the screws on the outside of the battery compartment.

    Step 4

    Remove the two screws next to the battery connector.

    Step 6

    Remove the two screws each at the top left and top right side. Remove the three long phillips or Torx T6 screws at the bottom of your Macbook. Please keep all screws in an organized fashion and label them since they are similar but not equal in length. You can tape them down on a letter size piece of paper and leave written notes to keep them organized.

    Step 7

    Remove the two screws near the right hinge (looking at the Macbook from the back).

    Step 8

    Do the same for the screws near the left hinge.

    Step 9

    Remove the screws of the RAM & hard drive cover inside the battery compartment.

    Step 10

    Remove the cover.

    Step 11

    Remove the screws below the cover.

    Step 12

    Now you should be able to lift the palm rest. You can use a prying tool to lift the palm rest enough to you can hold it with your fingers. Be careful not to use too much force and avoid abrupt movements, otherwise you may tear the ribbon cable underneath.

    Step 13

    Gently disconnect the keyboard ribbon cable from the socket.

    Step 14

    Macbook Palm Rest Replacement Before you begin

  • Place your Macbook Air on a clean flat and soft surface, such as a rubber mat or a piece of soft cloth and get the required phillips screwdriver and prying tools. Warning: This repair will cause irreversible cosmetic damage to your screen module (specifically the bezel).

  • Step 1

     

    Remove the bezel seal. Start prying the seal loose in the center bottom part of the bezel.

    Step 2

    Remove the seal on the outside corner of screen and work your way from there around the entire bezel until the seal is completely removed.

    Step 4

    Start lifting the bezel by inserting a safe prying tool under the bezel. The bezel is attached by double sided adhesive tape. The bezel will irreversibly warped out of shape. Please don't proceed if you're not ok with cosmetic damage to the bezel.

    Step 6

    Slide the safe open tool blade around the bezel and release the glue every where.

    Step 7

    This is what it looks like when you're almost finished.

    Step 8

    Remove the screws holding the LCD panel in place.

    Step 9

    Carefully pull the screen upward, be sure to not damage the LCD cable at the bottom. Release the LCD cable connector and you will be able to fully remove the LCD panel.

    Step 11

    You successfully removed the LCD panel from the macbook air screen module.

    Macbook Palm Rest Replacement Before you begin

  • Place your Macbook on a clean flat and soft surface, such as a rubber mat or a piece of soft cloth and get the required phillips screwdriver.

    Step 1

     

    Remove the battery.

     

    Step 2

    Remove the screws of the RAM / hard drive cover.

      Remove the cover and  you will have access to the hard drive and Ram. You can remove the RAM by activating the aluminum levers. Upon reinstallation push the RAM modules into the slots firmly and make sure they sit flush to avoid start-up problems.
      

    Step 6

    Grab the yellow adhesive tape firmly and pull to remove the hard drive from the hard drive slot. The hard drive is in an enclosure that's not shown in the image. You may have to swap the enclosure over to the replacement hard drive before installation.

    Powerbook G4 Before you begin

  • Read this website's Legal Guidelines and make sure you understand the risks of this repair. Place your Powerbook G4 on a clean flat and soft surface, such as a rubber mat or a piece of soft cloth and get the required opening tools.

    This is what the g4 looks like from the top.

    Step 2

    Remove the two philips head screws next the battery on the side.

    Step 3

    Remove the other two screws on the other side as well.

    Step 4

    Remove the screws on the side near the back of the laptop.

    Step 5

    Remove the screws on the other end of the side towards the back.

    Step 6

    Use a Torx screw to remove the screw next to the power button.

    Step 10

    You need to remove the keys to release the keyboard.  The f11 and f12 keys. Remove them carefully with the green tool so that you do not break them.

    Step 13

    Flip the laptop over and remove the cover for the RAM.  There are 4 philips head scews that need to be removed on each corner of the cover.

    Step 12

    Once the cover is removed you can see the RAM for the G4.  Remove the Ram be releasing the latches on the side of the RAM so that they lift up so you can pull them out with ease.

    Step 15

    On the side where the RAM was you will see a philips head screw.

    Step 16

    The screw needs to be removed.

    Step 17

    Remove the F1 and teh F2 keys on the keyboard using the green tool.

    Step 18

    With the proper keys being removed you can now release the keyboard from the palm rest.

    Step 19

    There is so protective tape over the ribbon cable for the keyboard remove it.

    Step 20

    Under the tape you can then remove the keyboard from the motherboard.  Its ribbon cable is connected to the motherboard.  You can remove it using a flathead screw driver to gently release the connector.

    Step 21

    This is what the g4 will look like once the keyboard is removed.

    Step 22

    On the bottom left of the palm rest under the keyboard there is a protective tape that needs to be removed.

    Step 23

    Under the tape there is a screw that needs to be removed.

    Step 24

    Make sure the battery is released.  You can do this using your green tool and rotating the latch to the unlocked position.

    Step 25

    Pull the battery out of the laptop.

    Step 26

    Below the battery there are some screws that need to be removed.

    Step 27

    With the green tool you can start to wedge between the palm rest and the bottom piece of the g4 laptop casing.  Do this all the way around so that it releases easily.  Be sure not to bend the metal.

    Step 28

    Once it is fully released DO NOT YANK ALL THE WAY OUT you will see two connectors on the top right hand corner. Make sure you release these cables so they do not break.

    Step 29

    Use the green tool to carefully release these cables.

    Step 30

    This is what the g4 12" laptop looks like with palm rest removed.

    Step 31

    The screw below the Optical Disc drive needs to be removed.

    Step 32

    There is a screw right above that next to the Optical Drive in the crevice that needs to be removed.

    On the top right hand corner above the optical drive there is another philips head screw that needs to removed.

    Step 35

    The one right below that needs to be removed as well.

    Step 36

    The little metal piece that was be held down by those two screws needs to be removed.

    Step 37

    On  the bottom left hand corner of the Optical Drive there is a screw that needs to be removed.

    Step 38

    Make sure the screw above the upper right hand side of the hard drive is removed.

    Step 39

    Make sure that the screws are also removed on both sides of part that locks into the battery.

    Step 40

    All the way towards the bottom in the middle there is a screw that needs to be removed.

    Step 41

     

    Step 42

    With all the screws removed from the edges of this middle board on the bottom middle of the laptop you can now lift it up out of the casing.

    Step 43

    This can be done by using the green tool.

    Step 44

    With the board now removed you can now get reach a screw right below it that needs to be removed.

    Step 45

    Now you can use the green tool to release teh ribbon cable for the Optical drive from the motherboard.

    Step 46

    Ease it out by lifting it out from both sides.  Once the cable is release you can now remove the Optical Drive.

     

    To reassemble follow directions in reverse order.
