Before you begin
Read Legal Information Section and make sure you understand the risks of this repair. Place your T-Mobile G1 on a clean flat and soft surface, such as a rubber mat or a piece of soft cloth and get the required opening tools

Step 1
Turn you T-Mobile (HTC) G1 around and remove the battery cover using a safe open tool.

Step 2
Remove the battery and the sim-card.
|
 |
|
Step 3
Now you are ready to remove the torx screws holding the phone together.
|

|
Step 4
Remove the torx T5 screws on the sides of the frame.
|
 |
|
Step 5
Remove the Torx T6 screw under the seal.
|
 |
|
Step 6
Once all screws are remove you can use the safe open tool to remove the frame from the -Mobile G1 midboard.

Step 7
Keep inserting in different sections of the frame to release it from the clips.
|

|
Step 8
The top of the frame will come loose first.
|
 |

Step 9
Now address the section of the frame on the bottom of the phone.
|
 |
|
Step 10
You can now completely release the frame from the midboard.
|
 |
|
Step 11
Remove the screws of the T-Mobile G1 wifi-module and logic board.
|

Step 12
Release the T-Mobile G1 antenna cable connector.
|
 |

Step 15
Peel off the adhesive insulating tape covering connector on the top left side.

Step 16
Use the safe open tool to release the latch mechanism. Be careful, the latch is very fragile.

Step 17
Use the safe open tool to pull the right side of the ribbon cable out of the connector.

Step 18
Repeat the same on the left side.

Step 19
Remove the yellow adhesive tape and release the ribbon cable at the top from the connector.

This is what it looks like when it is removed.

Push the black plastic clip holding the T-Mobile G1 logic board in place toward the outside.

This is what it looks like when the clip is released.

Remove the yellow tape on the T-Mobile G1 camera connector.

Open the latch.

You can now flip the board upward.

There are two more connectors under the shielded adhesive tape.

Remove the first piece of tape. Click on the image to take a closer look.

Release the connector.

Remove the second piece of tape and release the connector.

Step 30
You have successfully removed the T-Mobile G1 motherboard, for reassembly follow the steps in reverse order.
