    Step 1

Follow the steps of the PSP Screen Removal Guide, then remove the start/select/volume button bar by opening the small latch between the metal frame and the DC-Jack.

    Step 2

Remove all screws holding the metal frame in place.

    Step 3

Carefully lift the metal frame off the PSP logic board.

    Step 4

Remove the screw on the top left corner of the directional pad and flip the pad to the right, exposing the connector latch.

    Step 5

Open the connector latch using the opening tool.

    Step 6

The next step is to remove the button pad on the right side of the PSP. Pry the small PCB with the four buttons loose from the plastic clip at it's top.

    Step 7

Lift the PCB up and turn it around.

    Step 8

Open the connector latch at it's bottom.

    Step 9

To open the connector latch use the opening tool as shown in image.

    Step 10

    Set the PCB aside.

    Step 11

Open the connector latch of the cable leading from the button pad PCB you just removed to the PSP motherboard.

    Step 12

Open the top of the connector latch of the ribbon cable leading to laser unit of the PSP UMD drive. Push the latch in direction of the ribbon cable.

    Step 13

Open the bottom of the connector latch of the ribbon cable

    Step 14

Open the the connector of the ribbon cable leading to the motor unit of the PSP UMD drive.

    Step 15

Release the right speaker connector by inserting and carefully twisting a flathead screwdriver.

    Step 16

    Release the left speaker connector.

    Step 17

Release the PSP DC-Jack connector with the flathead screwdriver.

    Step 18

Lift up the Wifi-antenna and remove the antenna cable from the logic board.

    Step 19

Pry the PSP logic board upward to release it from the PSP frame.

    Step 20

Now you should be able to pull it out of the PSP frame.

    Step 21

You have successfully removed the logic board, the remaining steps will show you how to remove the PSP UMD drive.

    Step 22

Start by removing the screw next to the right PSP speaker.

    Step 23

Use the flathead screwdriver to pry between the PSP frame and the hinge of the UMD door cover. Push the PSP door platic latch inward, away from the frame, to release the small pivot from it's anchoring. Perform this step on the left and right hinge of the PSP door cover.

    Step 24

While you pry as described in step 23, pull the platic cover of PSP UMD door away from the PSP backplate. It should snap loose as shown in the image.

    Step 25

When you remove the plastic cover of the PSP UMD door you expose the metal tray of the UMD drive.

    Step 26

Remove the four screws in the edges of the UMD drive. The drive should now come loose from the PSP backplate. Be sure to remove it slowly and prevent the ribbon cables from getting trapped.
