Acer Aspire One
Before you begin

  • Read this website's Legal Guidelines and make sure you understand the risks of this repair. Place your Acer Aspire One on a clean flat and soft surface, such as a rubber mat or a piece of soft cloth and get the required opening tools.


  • Step 2

    Turn the laptop over and pull out its battery.

    Step 3

    There are philips head screws that need to be removed.

    Step 4

    All the philips head screws need to be removed.

    Step 5

    Some may be hidden in corners so make sure that you get all of them underneath.


    Step 6

    This is what the acer aspire one looks like looking down upon the keyboard.


    Step 10

    There are clips that are holding the keyboard in that can be released using a flathead screwdriver.


    Step 13

    You can use the green tool to push the locking pins off to the side so that the RAM can be released.

    There is one latch that is located above teh f2 key.


    Step 15

    There is a second latch aboce teh f8 key or the center of the keyboard.


    Step 16

    The last latch is located on the right hand side of the keyboard above the pause/break button.


    Step 17

    Using the green tool you can now life the keyboard up and out of the palm rest.


    Step 18

    Do not lift if up and out all the way since there is a cable that is connecting the keyboard to the logicboard.


    Step 19

    You can use the green tool or a flathead to release the keyboard ribbon cable to the logic board.


    Step 20

    Go from edge to edge lifting up the latch so the keyboard can be released.


    Step 21

    Now the keyboard can be fully removed from the palm rest.

    This is what the acer one looks like without a keyboard.

    Step 23

    There are screws that are holding the palm rest to the rest of the computer.  Make sure all of these are removed.

     


    Step 24

    The screws need to be removed so that you can lift up the palm rest from the laptop.

    Here is a look at the palm rest once all the screws are removed.


    Step 26

    Right next to where the keyboard latch was there is another smaller latch that needs to be released.  This can be done by using a green tool and gently lifting up on the latch.

     


    Step 27

    You can put a piece of tape over the latch to protect it from breaking.

     

     


    Step 28

    With the green tool remove the rubber piece un the bottom of the laptop.


    Step 29

    You can remove it using a green tool and they are held in by double sided tape.

    Step 30

     

    Underneath the rubber is a philips head screw that needs to be removed.


    Step 31

    Remove the rubber piece and the philips head screw from the other side.

    Step 32

     

    Remove the screw that you find underneath and do the same on the other side of the compartment.

    Now with all the screws removed you can now wedge of the palm rest from the bottom frame.


    Step 35

    Use the green tool to create the space between the palm rest and the bottom frame.

    The palm rest should come off with ease and it can be completely taken off.

    This is what the acer One logic board looks like from the top.

    Disconnect the screen ribbon cable using the green tool.

    The cable disconnects going towards the front of the laptop.


    Step 41

    The next thing that needs to be removed is the antenna cable.


    Step 42

    The antenna cable goes over the top of the logic board and connects to the wifi card.

    Remove the screw to the left of the wifi board.


    Step 45

    Disconnect the black and white antenna cables connected to the wifi card using the green tool.

    This is what they will look like once the wires are removed from the wifi board.

    Remove the wifi board by pulling it to the right away from the connector.
    loosen up the antenna cables so they can be removed more easily.

    There is a screw that was below the wifi card that needs to be removed.

    Now the audio board can be removed.

    This can be done by using the green tool.


    Step 53

    Flip it over to expose the cable connections that is connected the audio board to the logic board.

    Remove the cable connector using a green tool.

    The logic board can now be removed from the bottom frame.

    This is what the logic board looks like when it is removed from the bottom frame.

    Step 57

    Flip the logic board over and you will see the hard drive and the processor.


    Step 58

    To remove the hard drive remove this philips head screw.


    Step 59

    Also a second screw needs to be removed.


    Step 60

    You can now remove the hard drive by pulling it away from the logic board.
