  • Read this website's Legal Guidelines and make sure you understand the risks of this repair. Place your Sony DSC-W70 on a clean flat and soft surface, such as a rubber mat or a piece of soft cloth and get the required opening tools.

Danger - Risk of electrical shock - Do not touch the flash capacitor.

  • Step 1

This is the back of the dsc-w70 showing  you the LCD display.

    Step 2

There are 3 philips head screws on the bottom left had corner that need to be removed.

    Step 3

There are also 2 philips head screws on the right side panel that need to be removed.

    Step 4

This is the left side of the camera it will look like this after Step 5 once you remove the silver plastic edge piece.

    Step 5

The other side panel also has a screw that needs to come out.

    Step 6

Both Side panels are now removed (left and right).

    Step 7

Now with the side panels off and all the screws removed we can gently life the backplate off the camera.  You want to do this from the bottom because it hinges at the top of the device which is released last.

    Step 8

This is what it looks like after you life the front casing all the way up.

    Step 9

Here are all teh seperate parts at this step in the repair.

    Step 10

To remove The lcd you need to free it from the latches that are holding it into the frame on the camera.  The best way to do this is use a flathead to create space and then twist the flathead so that it will pop out of the hinges holding it in.

    Step 11

Once the camera is free of the frame it can be folded over to the side exposing the 2 ribbon cables.  One that connects the LCD the other that connects the backlight.

    Step 13

The Backlight ribbon cable is smaller and off the side.  This can be removed by gentle pressure pulling it away from the camera.  The LCD ribbon cable is the larger one and can be detached using the same method.

    Step 12

You can now put in the new LCD for the camera and do steps in reverse for re-assembly.
