Yes, you need soldering to do this, but is pretty straightforward otherwise. Are you sure the issue is caused by the jack?
Start by resoldering the ribbon cable, the solder connections have a tendency to go bad.

Replacing the Headphone Jack on my 2G Touch

Postby jipodTouch » Thu Apr 29, 2010 1:53 pm

I was wondering if there was anything special I should know about before I replace the entire headphone jack in my 2G Touch? It looks pretty straight-forward...open the case, two screws to remove the jack, and two screw to put back in. Is there any soldering needed? Should I be careful of any other parts? I have fixed dozens of iPod videos but never a Touch and I do not want to screw it up. Thanks!
