Replacing a Digitizer G1

I need to replace the touch screen on my Generation 1 iTouch. Can I use the touch screen from a Gen2 iTouch?

the digitizer of iTouch 1G and 2G are not compatible (ribbon cable completely different). but the 1G digitizer is not expensive, there are plentyful on ebay.
