I'm trying to help someone fix her iPod. It got water on it, and after that, everything but the wifi works. I need to know if the wifi system is on the motherboard, or if it's a separate system. If it's separate part, then I can replace it if opening it and cleaning up any corrosion that might be there doesn't fix it.

I have just bought a wi-fi unit to fix a 2G touch. There are a couple of soldering joints and part of the Wi-Fi cable goes into a small socket. The main part of the cable that connects to the motherboard looks like it is fused, as in heated, in place. There i loads of wires and terminals that seem to be attached that way. I am plucking up the courage to try and separate the old wifi from the mobo!
Can anyone cast some light on this?
