2nd gen itouch

Postby 96792 » Sun Jan 16, 2011 10:09 am

OK, Here's the situation:

2nd gen itouch, was dead & unresponsive.
Replaced battery = Now powers on
noticed 2 of 8 rusty screws, on the lcd tray, I assume it had some water damage.
Problem is digitizer is non-responsive, I cannot slide to power off or on. or enter the passcode.
I can connect to comp, however, it is passcode locked & itunes tells me this. I have the passcode, I do not have the original comp it was synced with.

I have verified it is not the digitizer, with another known working digitizer.

Primarily I just would like to retrieve the info from the itouch, however fixing it would be good too. whichever I can accomplish.

Any Ideas? what to do, or whats possibly the trouble? Logic board? I have seen "logic board cable" replacement parts, but not an actual logic board.
Is the logic board where the actual data is stored?, if so changing this would defeat the purpose.

You can upload a jailbroken restore ramdisk into the iPod touch. that should allow you to get access to the file system via iphonetunnel and ssh. it's a multistep process and not that easy, i tried it one and got stock b/c the ramdisk would not start. search around the tools like irecovery, ramdiskbuilder etc. and you will find guides online.
