my ipod 80G Classic I have an 80G Classic that only works when it is plugged into something- monster cable or ipod player. The min we unplug the ipod it doesn't work. My husband thinks it could be a battery problems.

If the run time declined gradually and is now finally reduced to zero, you definitely have a battery issue. If the run time disappeared out of nowhere, or if there was in incident (dropped on the floor, got wet), it is more likely to be a logic board issue.
