While replacing the back cover of the iphone 3GS i accidently snapped off the metal earth tab at the bottom right of the motherboard, this connects to the metal bezel around the iphone.

Despite this i have reassembled it and it is not turning on...
Is this earth tab fundamental to the iphone's operation? Should i solder a connector to replace it?
