I read many have had luck with placing the phone in a bowl of dry rice after being in the water. Surprisingly it absorbs a lot of the moisture out of the phone. If that doesn't work. Open the phone and try holding a compressed air can STRAIGHT and spray into the crevices, speaker, mic, and keypad. Any excess water should come out. If the can gets cold and you're not done, let the can sit a while before continuing, as cold air could make excess moisture condense onto parts deeper inside. Then leave the phone in a dry and warm place for the remaining water to evaporate. If the water is already dry and there is corrosion and residue on electronic components clean that off with a soft brush and spray it out again with canned air after brushing. It's all about removing anything that could bridge and connect the circuitry in ways that keeps it from working properly.

I agree. Make sure the phone is off and stays off otherwise you run the risk of shorting out circuits on the board. Moisture can also cause corrossion so even if you dry out your phone enough to power it on, you need to make sure there is NO moisture left, otherwise the corrossion will grow like a mold and break connections.

If all else fails, send it to us and we'll see what we can do! We do recycle iPhones too.

THanks,

I have an iPhone 3G 16GB that was exposed to steam while girl was in the shower. One red dot aka water indicator is on. I swapped out main logic board after thorough cleaning of corrosion after it was dried out. my 8GB logic board works fine in 16GB chassis with all of it components but 16GB in the 8GB chassis wont charge (via usb or wall charger) or connect to pc. 16GB is version 2.2.1, but I don't see that as related to my issue. I see that there is a chip that controls my functions that are in-op. By process of elimination I deduce that the trouble is in Logic board. Do you do chip level repair if need be? Will pics be lost? How can i recover the pics she has on there without being able to connect to iTunes or anything?

please advise how to go from here and what you could offer for advice or services.....
