my iphone 3GS 32gb will not power on at all. holding the
power button for a few seconds or plugged into the charger or to my pc.
nothing turns it on.

Two possible sources of the problem are a defective dock connector or logic board. I'm assuming you tried to get a replacement under warranty. If that option does not exist you can still fix it by replacing the broken part. There are guides online on how to do the replacement.
