I could not restore my iphone 3g 8gb. I have tried with different firmwares, from 2.0.2 to 3.1.2. I have noticed that Firmware 3.0 goes to closest to the completion and show error code 1002.

Usually when that happens, and that may be disappointing and trivial, you need a new motherboard. It could be something wrong with your flash memory or damage from physical impact or humidity, if it doesn't restore and you tried restoring in DFU mode, the board can usually not be recovered.
